Success Story
Martha del Socorro López
Programme: WorldWideWomen (framework programme 2009-2011)
Improving the business model
Martha lives with her husband and her three children in Nindiri, a village, which is 30 km away from Managua. At the age of 14 Martha had to quit school and started a small chicken farm. Martha received a commercial training in the framework of the ICEP empowerment programme WorldWideWomen and completed classes in accounting and controlling. Martha says: ,,The programme sparked my interest in learning new things and showed me how to improve my business model.” That way I can finance my children’s education and enable them a secure future.” Due to her training, Martha could save spendings and revise her business plan. Next, Martha wants to expand her chicken farm and hire her family members in her micro business, to reach more customers.
