Program: Economic Partnership Mondi: Dual VET in Mexico (since 2014)

“By combining theory and practice, I can internalize what I’ve learned more quickly and more quickly.”

Practicing theoretical knowledge

Edson Jair Vega Esquivel is a Mondi apprentice in the field of electromechanics at the Monterrey site in Mexico. He is one of the first apprentices ever to participate in the dual training program at Mondi Mexico. The program was established in autumn 2014 with the support of ICEP and the Austrian Development Cooperation and contributes to the efforts of Mexico to make vocational training more needs-oriented. The dual training gives young people the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge from the vocational school in practice. They also improve their skills and problem-solving skills. “I am very grateful for the opportunity to use the learned theory from the school in practice. This possibility strengthens and deepens my know-how. Through practice I have also learned to take responsibility for my own work. What’s new to me is the mutual trust and support of all the workers, the cohesion is enormous and I really appreciate that, “says Edson.
